Workshop for early career investigators on 33rd Miller Conference on Radiation Chemistry

Ivan Ilakovac, Ivana Landripet and Ružica Šoić participated in the  Workshop for early career investigators organized as part  of the 33rd Miller Conference on Radiation Chemistry 2025. held in Dubrovnik on October 5, 2025. Tanja Jurkin was the main Organizer of the Workshop but also of the Miller Conference.

This workshop provided young researchers in the field of radiation chemistry and beyond with a better and more thorough understanding of key topics in radiation chemistry and provided an opportunity to listen to lectures by renowned scientists who are experts in their field. It also gave them  the opportunity for scientific networking and possible collaboration. The lectures covered areas ranging from basic research and applications of pulse radiolysis, to the chemistry of polysaccharide radiation and ionizing radiation in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles, semiconductors and oxides.

The workshop was attended by 36 young PhD researchers and young PhDs. Five lectures were held at the workshop.

The European School of Magnetism 2025

Our PhD student Ivan Ilakovac has attended scientific training at  the European School on Magnetism 2025 held from June 30 to July 11, 2025. The school took place at the University of Liège, Belgium. The main topic of the school was the topology of low-energy spintronics, but the lectures covered a very wide range of topics in the field of magnetism in four units: basics (fields, atomic magnetism, symmetries, exchange interactions, magnetic anisotropy, magnetostriction, surface and interlayer magnetism, domain mangetism, spin waves, magnetization, spintronics and orbitronics), techniques (neutron scattering, measurement of magnetism, spin wave resonance techniques, magnetic microscopy,  DFT applications in magnetism, micromagnetism and spin dynamics, quantum spin transport), applications (magnetocalorimetry, permanent magnets, multiferroic materials, magnetoresistive sensors, topological magnetic layer applications, scyrmion stabilization and multiferroics in industry) and industry and career perspectives.

As the part of the school, there was an optional poster section in which Ivan Ilakovac presented himself with a poster "Ferrofluids – promising candidates for magnetic hyperthermia?".
